Product Description Pyrithiobac-Sodium 10% EC is a selective post emergence herbicide mainly used for controlling broadleaf weeds in cotton crops. It is absorbed quickly through leaves and roots and then translocated within the plant which stops further growth of susceptible weeds. The formulation provides early season weed control which helps cotton plants to grow without competition during critical growth stages. Pyrithiobac-Sodium is effective on many troublesome broadleaf weeds like Amaranthus, Digera, Trianthema, Portulaca and other common species found in cotton fields. It works well even at low doses and maintains its activity for a longer period after application. Mode of Action Pyrithiobac Sodium acts by inhibiting acetolactate synthase enzyme which is essential for synthesis of branched chain amino acids in plants. This inhibition leads to rapid cessation of cell division and growth in target weeds and finally results in their death. The herbicide is absorbed through both foliage and roots and moves to meristematic tissues where it shows its activity.
