Description Imazethapyr 10 SL is a selective systemic herbicide from imidazolinone group widely used for the control of broadleaf weeds and some grassy weeds in soybean, groundnut, pulses and other legume crops. It is applied as a post-emergence herbicide and absorbed quickly by roots and leaves of weeds. Being a soluble liquid formulation it mixes easily in water and ensures uniform spray. It provides effective and long lasting weed management which helps in securing crop growth during the early stage. Mode of Action Imazethapyr inhibits acetolactate synthase enzymes in susceptible weeds. This enzyme is required for synthesis of essential branched chain amino acids like valine, leucine and isoleucine. Inhibition of protein biosynthesis stops cell division and plant growth. The affected weeds first stop growing then show chlorosis and finally die while crop remain safe at recommended dose.
