Description Halosulfuron Methyl 75 WG is a selective post emergence herbicide widely used for the control of broadleaf weeds and sedges in crops like sugarcane. It belongs to the sulfonylurea group and works at a very low dose with a high level of crop safety. The water dispersible granule formulation dissolves easily in water and gives uniform spray coverage. It is particularly effective against Cyperus rotundus and other difficult sedges which are not controlled by common herbicides. Mode of Action Halosulfuron Methyl inhibits the activity of acetolactate synthase enzymes in weed plants. This blockage stops the biosynthesis of essential branched chain amino acids leading to disruption in protein formation and cell division. The treated weeds stop growing within a few days and gradually die while the crop remains unaffected.
