Description Fipronil 18.87 SC is a phenyl pyrazole insecticide used for effective management of major insect pests in crops like rice, sugarcane, maize, cotton and vegetables. It controls stem borer, root borer, leaf folder, thrips and white grubs with long lasting effect. The suspension concentrate formulation provides better bio availability and uniform coverage on crops. It is highly systemic in soil and protects the crop for longer duration with reliable results. Mode of Action Fipronil acts on the central nervous system of insects by blocking GABA gated chloride channels. This interference prevents chloride ion uptake and disturbs the normal nerve impulse transmission. The insect becomes hyper excited, paralyzed and dies. It has both contact and ingestion activity and also shows translaminar and systemic action in plants.
