Description Deltamethrin 2 percent EW is a water based space spray concentrate specially formulated for control of adult mosquitoes. It is recommended for both outdoor and indoor application to manage mosquito vectors of malaria, dengue and other mosquito borne diseases. It is widely used in public health programs because of its quick action and broad coverage. The formulation is designed for use through thermal fogging and ultra low volume spray equipment. It provides effective knockdown of the adult mosquito population in treated areas. It should not be applied near foraging bees or aquatic bodies as it is toxic to honey bees and fishes. Mode of Action Deltamethrin belongs to the synthetic pyrethroid group. It acts on the insect nervous system by interfering with the normal functioning of sodium channels in nerve cells. This action results in hyper excitation, paralysis and eventual death of the insect. The formulation ensures effective dispersion of the active ingredient in ultra fine droplets which increases contact with flying mosquitoes during application.
