Clothianidin 0.5% GR is a systemic insecticide from a neonicotinoid group formulated as a granular form for soil application. It is mainly used to control early stage and soil dwelling pests like termites, root grubs, shoot borer and stem borer. The granules release the active ingredient slowly in soil ensuring prolonged protection to the crop. It is widely used in rice, maize, sugarcane and vegetable crops where hidden pests cause heavy damage. Mode of Action Clothianidin acts on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of the insect nervous system. It binds irreversibly with these receptors causing continuous stimulation, hyper excitation and death of the pest. Being systemic in nature, it is taken up by roots and translocated throughout the plant which gives protection from inside against sucking as well as soil insects.
