Merhizo is a liquid bio insecticide that contains live Metarhizium anisopliae, a naturally occurring beneficial fungus. It is mainly used to control soil and surface insects that damage crops from below or at the base of the plant. When applied to the soil or sprayed on crops, the fungal spores come in contact with insects moving through the field. Once they touch the insect’s body, they stick to the outer surface and begin to grow. Slowly, the fungus penetrates through the outer layer of the insect and starts developing inside. After entering the insect’s body, the fungus multiplies and spreads internally. It disturbs the insect’s normal body functions and releases natural toxins. The pest gradually becomes weak, stops feeding properly, and eventually dies. After death, a fungal growth may be visible on the insect’s body, which helps the fungus spread naturally in the pest population. Since Merhizo works through biological action rather than chemical poisoning, it is considered suitable for long term pest management. It fits well in IPM programs and can also be used in organic farming practices.
Mode of Action
When MERHIZO is applied in the field, its spores come in direct contact with the insect. The spores germinate and penetrate through the insect’s cuticle, which is its protective outer covering. Inside the body, the fungus continues to grow and spread. During this process, natural compounds are produced that disturb the internal system of the insect. The insect weakens gradually and dies over time. After death, fungal growth on the body can help in further spreading the infection among other pests present in the soil.Target Pests

For domestic or kitchen garden use: 5 to 10 gm per litre of water For soil application in field crops: 1 to 2 kg per acre For best performance, apply in moist soil conditions.
