Ametryn 80% WG is a selective pre-emergence and post emergence herbicide widely used in sugarcane crops. It belongs to the triazine group of herbicides and is formulated in water dispersible granules which is easy to handle and apply. Ametryn controls a wide range of annual and perennial grasses and broad leaf weeds giving crops a weed free start and helping in better crop establishment and growth. Its residual activity in soil suppresses weed germination for a longer period which reduces weeding cost. Mode of Action Ametryn inhibits photosynthesis by blocking electron transport in photosystem II of susceptible weed species. This disruption stops production of energy in plant cells leading to chlorosis necrosis and death of weeds. Being absorbed through root and foliage it affects both emerging weed and newly germinating weed.
